56. Advice from #77

“Be the kid that takes the whole bucket of candy and pours it in your bag.”Carson York, UO Football player, grad student, and future king of branding.

I so wish I had a picture of me when I went trick-or-treating as a teenager (yes, I was way past the “isn’t your costume adorable” stage). I found a bucket of candy on the front porch of a house with a note that said “Please Take One.” Naturally I poured all of the candy into my bag and walked away proudly.

A few seconds later, the owner opened up his door and started yelling at me for taking it all. So, what did I do? I ran and started screaming to my friends, “Guys! We have to distribute the candy evenly!”

Now that I think about it this would be a great commercial for Hershey’s or any other candy company looking to promote their products. The slogan could be “Why take one when you can have them all?”

Thanks Carson for encouraging this behavior. Granted, you were using it as a metaphor for life but I like to take things literally.
